What to Do Right Now While You Wait
If the Breaker Keeps Tripping
Leave it off. A breaker that trips repeatedly is protecting you from something, and resetting it over and over can turn a repair into a replacement. Tell us on the callback that it is tripping, because that changes what we bring.
If You See Water or Ice
Turn the system off at the thermostat. Water around the air handler usually means a clogged drain line, and running the system keeps the water coming. Ice on the lines means the system needs to sit and thaw before anyone can work on it, so switching off early actually speeds up the repair.
If You Smell Burning
Shut the system down at the thermostat and at the breaker, and say so in your request. Do not restart it to see if the smell comes back.
And in general: leave it off rather than cycling it on and off. If the house is getting hot, close blinds on the sun side and run ceiling fans. Fans do not cool a room, but moving air makes the wait more bearable.

Summer outdoor dew points in Florida routinely climb past 80 degrees. That is warm enough that any cool surface in the house will sweat, including a supply plenum, an uninsulated section of duct in a hot attic, or drywall behind a return grille. Most mold species need sustained humidity in the range of 70 percent to establish, and a sweating duct provides it.
Flex Duct Behaves Differently Than Metal
Most South Florida homes built since the 1970s run flexible duct with a fiberglass or plastic liner. Metal duct can be cleaned and sanitized. Fiberglass liner that has been wet cannot. Knowing which one you have changes the entire recommendation, and it is the first thing we check.

When Cleaning Is Not the Fix
Two things you can check yourself, for free, before you spend anything:

Set your thermostat fan to AUTO, not ON. With the fan running continuously, moisture that condensed on the evaporator coil gets re-evaporated and pushed back into the house before it can drain away.

Put a humidity sensor in the living area. With the AC running through the summer, indoor relative humidity should not sit above 55 percent. If it does, research from the Florida Solar Energy Center points to duct leakage or the equipment itself, oversized, undercharged, or short on airflow across the coil. No amount of duct cleaning fixes any of those.
